Comprehensive International Trade Sites: See also Sites for Regions

 

Business Culture Guides Click on the Country's flag and get full text information. Learn about gifts, negotiating practices, business dress, how to address individuals, and more. See also: Business Netiquette International, a "Netiquette" site for business to business e-mail etiquette, “keeping international business in mind".

Treaties and International Law From the Internet Law Library, a listing of links to treaties and foreign law. A similar site is Foreign and International Law from Willamette University; there are links to organizations, treaties, foreign relations, human rights, and more.

Market Research Library From the US Commercial Service; pull down menus match Industries with regions or countries. Reports include Market Research Reports, Country Commercial Guides (CCG), and Best Market Reports.

Customs & Border Protection (formerly US Customs Service) This is a comprehensive site. The Import and Export links at the top of the pages lead to procedures and regulations. There is also a page for NAFTA.

Export-Import Bank of the United States The "Country Information" page links to Country Limitation Schedule, Exposure Fees Online, Country Fact Sheets, and CIRR Rates (Commercial Interest Reference Rates).

GRA Research "Hotlinks" The Internet site of Cal Poly Pomona Prof. Jerry Rogers includes GRA Research Hotlinks leading to a comprehensive listing of Internet sites of value for international business and trade.

GlobalEDGE From Michigan State University, formerly MSU-CIBER, includes listing of foreign companies.

US International Trade Administration (US ITA) The purpose of the US ITA is to export American goods and services, which includes State Exports to Countries and Regions. The Trade Information Center (TIC) is essential for those actually doing international trading.

Foreign Trade Statistics Foreign Trade Statistics is the official United States Government source for trade data. See also International Economic Indicators The International Statistics selection bring data on US trade.

Export.Gov This “U.S. Government Export Portal” brings practical information including the full text of A Basic Guide to Exporting. Trade Statistics includes TradeStats Express where you can see a world map for a state's exports, color-coded for value of totals.

The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States Search the Harmonized Tariff Schedule through the "Table of Contents". This is the full text of the schedules.

Internet Public Library (IPL) International Business Reference The selected list of well-annotated links include "The Electronic Embassy", an "International Business Practices Guide" the "International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)" and "The International Political Economy Network ".

National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers A yearly report from the United States Trade Represenative.

Journal of Commerce (JOC Online) The Journal of Commerce has articles on the business and on the politics of foreign trade. You can enter terms in a search window.

TradePort “TradePort is a repository of free information and resources for businesses that seek to conduct international trade to and from California.”

VIBES: Virtual International Business and Economics Sources VIBES from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte "provides over 1,300 links to Internet sources of international business and economic information." The links include some to full-text articles.

World Bank See Countries & Regions for World Bank activities by country.

World Trade Organization The "Trade Topics" link brings full text discussion of international trade topics.

Africa (sub-Sahara): Back

Africa Online Business Select Business, upper left column - then pull-down menu to choose a country. MBendi Information for Africa Select the Country List (under Regions), which covers the world including Africa. After you select a country a pull-down menu includes a choice for “More for this Country”. The MBendi site might take more time to load from here in Pomona, but it is worth the wait!

Bank of Hawaii Pacific Island Reports Go here for the full text of economic reports for a wide selection of the Pacific Islands (Samoa, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and more).

Europe; Russia and Eastern Europe: Back

BISNIS (Business Information Service for the Newly Independent States) BISNIS is the US Department of Commerce's "one-stop shop" for Russia and the other states of the former USSR. The data include Embassy Reports, market reports, and lists of local contacts.
REESWeb: Russian and East European Studies From the University of Pittsburgh, REESWeb covers Russian and East European studies on the Internet.
EU Business Requires free registration, EU Business reports news, new legislation, and on countries in Eastern Europe seeking to join the European Union (see East Europe link under Countries in left margin).
Eurasianet.org For news and analysis on Central Asia, including Armenia, Georgia, and the ...stan countries (Uzbekistan, etc.), Eurasianet includes a “Business and Economics” link.

Market Access Database The Commission of the European Union offers reports from list of countries. The reports are detailed and include overviews of barriers to foreign companies.
