Look here for great sites of the past. “The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library, with the purpose of offering permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format.” Includes the Wayback Machine search engine, by URL, date, or key word.
Internet Public Library (IPL) The Internet Public Library is hosted by the School of Information (i.e. Library Science) of the University of Michigan. The IPL presents the Internet under the range of services traditional in a public library including for Children and Young Adults.INFOMINE: Scholarly Internet Resource Collections INFOMINE, produced by the University of California, Riverside, is a quality, comprehensive gateway to the Internet. It claims access to "10,000+ Academically Valuable Resources".
Lii.org Librarians' Index to the Internet This site began as the Berkeley Public Library Index to the Internet. It is organized by broad subject categories and has a search engine.
Scout Report Archives From the University of Wisconsin; search the Internet by entering terms, or by Library of Congress subject headings, or by broad category. The Archives hold the best Internet sites chosen by the Scout Report, "a weekly publication offering a selection of new and newly discovered Internet resources of interest to researchers and educators."
The WWW Virtual Library (WWW VL) The WWW Virtual Library was established by the people at CERN (European Laboratory for Particle Physics) who also started the World Wide Web WWW. The Virtual Library is organized by subject fields, some correspond to academic disciplines. Typically discipline sites are maintained by a university faculty.
