Use the Library Catalog to find books and other materials in the Library. In addition to books, all of the Library's journals, newspapers, recordings, reports, software, and any other holdings are in the Library Catalog. Electronic journals and electronic books are also cataloged and the Library Catalog has links to the electronic materials.
Do not use the Library Catalog if you want to search for journal articles. Use the databases described below to search for journal articles.
For more information and hints for using the Library Catalog, see:
Library Tutorial for Engineering
Databases provide subject access to journal articles, papers, reports and other publications. The Cal Poly Pomona Library provides access to nearly 100 databases. Use these databases to find articles in Engineering journals:
Applied Science Full Text (WilsonWeb)
Provides access to over 450 English language engineering and science journals, 1983 to present. The database includes full text articles from about 20% of the journals. Excellent coverage of chemical and materials engineering and industrial chemistry.
Compendex (Engineering Village)
From Engineering Information. Indexes over 2600 journals published worldwide in all engineering disciplines; also covers conference papers, reports, and publications of engineering societies. 1969 to present.
If you need articles about chemical prices, production, chemical companies or industries, try these databases:
You can also search electronic journal collections that include chemical engineering journals. Be aware that if you search one of these ejournal collections you will only be searching journals from one publisher. Choose Applied Science Full Text or Compendex to search a broad selection of journals from many publishers.
Chemical and Engineering News (C&EN)
Published by the American Chemical Society, this weekly magaine covers science, technology, industry and government news, and more.

Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology (Ref TP 9 E685)
This is a terrific resource for chemical engineers - a comprehensive source of information on all aspects of chemical engineering including chemicals, materials, toxicology, manufacturing and process technologies. We have Kirk-Othmer in print and online editions.
Encyclopedia of Chemical Processing and Design (TP 9 E66, 4th floor)
Intended for those planning to design a product or process. Articles cover processes, equipment, materials, methods, practices, and standards of the chemical and related industries.
Handbooks and Specialized Reference Books
Perry's Chemical Engineer's Handbook (Ref TP 151 P45)
Comprehensive handbook covering all aspects of chemical engineering. Includes formulas, extensive tables, diagrams, and charts, properties, equipment and processes.
CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (Ref QD 65 H3)
Extensive tables of data on chemical compounds, physical properties, constants, laboratory data, mathematical tables, conversion factors, etc.
Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials (Ref T 55.3 H3 S3)
Extensive data on chemicals and materials, includes CAS registry numbers, molecular formula and weight, properties, toxicity data, hazard rating, toxic and hazard reviews, and status with EPA or other agencies.
ThomasNet
Based on the Thomas Register of American Manufacturers; search for manufacturers, distributors, service providers.
