Going floor by floor through the Library, here are some things you should know:
- FIRST FLOOR - closed for construction
- SECOND FLOOR - closed for construction
- THIRD FLOOR - closed for construction
- FOURTH FLOOR
- FIFTH FLOOR
- SIXTH FLOOR
FOURTH FLOOR
- The MUSIC LIBRARIAN has an office on this floor located inside the glass front Special Collections Room.
- CIRCULATION SERVICES DESK [west side]:
- Check-out library materials and pick up things you ordered from LINK+ or Document Delivery.
- Check-out books, scores, DVD's and CD's yourself using the self check-out machine.
- The desk staff can help you check-out cassettes and videos, place searches on material and will take your overdue fines.
- All CD's, cassettes, videos and DVD's must be returned to the Circulation Desk.
You can also:
- checkout RESERVE materials left by your instructors
- check-out headphones to use with video and sound equipment in the library
- get a key to a video viewing room or locker
FIFTH FLOOR
- All MUSIC SCORES and BOOKS ABOUT MUSIC are shelved in the "M" section, located in the south-east corner. Also, consult How Are Music Materials Organized in the Library? to learn how the Library of Congress classification system organizes music.
- 4 STUDY ROOMS are available on a "first-come first-served" basis. This floor also includes a DVD/VIDEO VIEWING ROOM [south-west corner].
SIXTH FLOOR
- REFERENCE DESK [in front of elevators]:
This is the only service desk in the Library where you can find a LIBRARIAN.
Ask for help whenever you are having ANY problem finding what you need or if you need help starting your search.
Asking for help at the Reference Desk can save you time!

- MUSIC REFERENCE MATERIALS [near Reference Desk in "M" section]:
These are sources that you consult quickly:
- MUSIC DICTIONARIES
- MUSIC ENCYCLOPEDIAS
- Books with short BIOGRAPHIES about musicians
- DIRECTORIES with names and addresses for musicians, music-related companies and organizations.
- Check Music Reference Sources and Research Guides for a list of useful music reference works.
- If you are interested in business aspects of the "MUSIC INDUSTRY", the Reference area also has many helpful general business information sources. Ask someone at the Reference Desk to point them out to you.
- MUSIC CD's, DVD's, VIDEOS and CASSETTES [south side of floor].

- MICROFORM BACK ISSUES OF MUSIC MAGAZINES [south side of floor] - check the online catalog for what we own and write down the call number.
- PHOTOCOPIERS [south-east corner]
- RESEARCH WORKSTATIONS [east side] including CARD DISPENSER for copying and printing.
- 2 STUDY ROOMS [west of elevators] are available on a "first-come first-served" basis.
- INFORMATION LEARNING CENTER [south side of floor]
This area is stocked with computers that you can use then classes are not in session. The E-Z Research Workshop is now available online.
