Hugh O. LaBounty (President - Cal Poly Pomona (1978-1990) |
Hugh O. LaBounty first made contact with Cal Poly students while he was a teacher at nearby Citrus College. In this interview, he reviews his early teaching days, when he frequently found himself to be younger than his students. Over the years he climbed the administrative ladder, first at the Voorhis campus and later at the Kellogg campus, until in 1978 he became the second President of Cal Poly Pomona.
Until 1966, this University was a branch of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. The original campus was in San Dimas, at the site of the former Voorhis School for Boys; the campus was later moved to Pomona, at the site of the former Kellogg Arabian Ranch (our present location).
