| In 1931 Mark Smith, a trainer from the Barnes
Circus, came to work at the ranch and quickly trained a group
of the Arabians for a Liberty Drill routine. The word "liberty"
meant that the horses worked without reins or any contact with
the trainer other than by voice command. The grouping was unique
at the time for having stallions and mares perform together.
Smith attached a number to each horse and at a signal from him,
the horses would arrange themselves into numerical order. In
1932 Smith began using letters which the horses would then arrange
to spell KELLOGGS. |
