The photograph is a publicity still for Rudolph Valentino's last film "The Son of the Sheik". The Hollywood star and sex symbol was in his prime when he took ill suddenly during a personal appearance tour with the film and died on August 23, 1926. After Valentino's death, the ranch acquired a wax figure of Valentino wearing a costume from the film and displayed it in a showcase along with Jadaan's saddle, blanket, gold breast collar, bridle and reins. Jadaan went on to appear in a number of other movies during the 1920s and 1930s. After Jadaan was destroyed in 1945, his skeleton was used by the College of Agriculture and later the School of Veterinary Medicine Anatomy Department at the University of California Davis.
