Features:
  • Search+ Metasearch ScreenSelect and search up to ten databases simultaneously using one common interface (this is called broadcast searching or cross searching).
  • Get a list of databases relevant to your subject by selecting your subject from the “Category” section.
  • Select the database by title if you already know the name of the database you need by selecting “Locate” in the “Identify Database” section and typing in the title.
  • Merge duplicate records from multiple databases if total records retrieve are fewer than 150 records.
  • Search each database using its own interface when necessary.
  • "My Space" (Bronco Number required) allows you to:
    • Search+ My Space Linkcreate custom lists: My Databases and My e-Journals
    • create alerts (a search of your choosing is run automatically: you are alerted via email when new items are added).
    • store and manage records that you select in your won personal eShelf

In SEARCH+, the SFX button (SFX button) is used to:
  • link to the full text of an article,
  • locate a paper copy of the journal if available at Cal Poly Pomona, or
  • request items not available full text online and not owned by Cal Poly Pomona via Document Delivery
Some Limitations:
  • Search+ Search Databases ScreenhNot all databases are cross searchable – some must be searched individually.
  • Although a strength, cross searching also involves giving up some of the individuality of each database.
  • Search+ does not have the option to search all the different parts of the individual databases.
    • Cannot use advanced features (such as limiting results to peer reviewed articles).
    • Some of the functionality offered by the individual databases will be lost. Much of this functionality relates directly to the sort of information within that database. For example, the ability to limit by research methodology to retrieve articles based on empirical studies in PsycINFO.
