Endowment- An endowment named in honor of an individual or a family can be established for a minimum gift of $10,000. These gifts can be designated to support a particular area of the collections or the Library. Endowments provide supplemental funding for the Library in perpetuity, and provides annual income to enhance Library services and resources in ways that go far beyond base budgets. Endowments are truly gifts that live forever.

Collection Enhancement

Special Collections and University Archives- Special Collections is a combination of library, archive, and museum. Its foremost goal is the preservation of the university's treasures, making it most important to use specific archival supplies to ensure these items are preserved and available for generations to come. Highlights of the collections include the University Archives, Wine Industry Collection, the Robert Lawrence Balzer Collection, the Rose Float Collection, the Virginia Hamilton Adair Poetry Archive and book collection, the John Gill Modern Poetry Collection, the United Farm Workers Collection and the Hilda Solis Collection. There are also extensive collections of California art, architecture and design.

Facilities Enhancement

Learning Commons- Strategically Located at the library's point of entry, the Learning Commons encourages search and discovery through 36 workstations. Gifts to this area ensure that the library's technological resources are current, accessible and powerful.

Art Programs- Art offers glimpses into other times, places, and perspectives. Funding to the art program allows the library to expand cultural experiences by installing permanent works and showcasing rotating exhibits.

Educational Programs

Information Literacy- With the proliferation of online material, it has become more imperative for scholars to learn information literacy. Through workshops and online tutorials, we prepare students for lifelong learning by teaching them how to find, evaluate, and use the plethora of information effectively and ethically.
