Dear students, faculty and staff colleagues,
Welcome to the University Library!
In the last 75 years our Library has evolved from a small reading room to a modern learning facility holding 2.4 million books, microfilms, maps and some 3,000 periodicals and 2,800 online journals and databases. In 2008 the Library completed a $58.5 million expansion and renovation. It features a two-story Grand Reading Room with a view of the majestic San Gabriel mountains, a state of the art Learning Commons that encourages “search and discovery” through a 60-work station center, a high-tech 53-workstation Productivity Center, and 43 Group Study Rooms to support collaborative learning. As the campus’s principal learning center, the University Library also provides a 24-hour lab with 78 computer stations and round table sitting areas, a Special Events Room for seminars, symposia, and receptions, six classrooms--including a 120-seat tiered lecture hall--two information literacy laboratories and a Starbucks Café.
I encourage you to use this modern and beautiful facility fully. Treat it as your study, your office, your sitting or living room. We believe the Library should be your home away from home. If you have a subject-related question, please contact my colleagues, who, I am sure, are able to get you on the right track. Or if you have a suggestion on our service, feel free to contact my office or me personally because we are all here for you.
Good luck with your study and research endeavors.
