Exercise #1

This was the very first project that we did for spring quarter at Cal Poly Pomona. We were to work in teams of 3 or 4 and study three housed of the same architect. The houses that are chosen are a range of their work. We were to analyze the buildings and then build them. Along with my partners we built a model and then came up with posters to present our work.

Exercise #2

Here's the second project we did. We were to use three modules that were from our studied architects. The project was individual, and we were to use color and composition. The color scheme had to be planned and either mono-chrome, multicolored, or complementary colors.

Exercise #3

For the third project we were to create a tower that would be 15'x15'x60' (LxWxH) in real life. We were supposed to combine both exercise one and two into this project. This exercise also required us to think of spaces that would work for the place as well. The spaces had to reflect three adjectives as well. The boundaries affect the nature of the people who inhabit it.

Exercise #4 phase 1

This was the fourth exercise. It came in two parts. For this one we were supposed to come up with an exhibition space that reflects the studied architect and would incorperate ten of their selected works. It was to be an outdoor exhibition space and use the techniques from the previous exercises. The materials that were to be used on this project were to be taken into consideration to be environmentally friendly as posible. Scale, distance, and movement were very important.

Exercise #4 phase 2

Exercise four phase 2 was the final projet for this quarter. Only a few projects were chosen from the class to build to the full scale. We came up with what materials to use that were under a budget of $500. Next we came up with a small model to build a section of it for the full scale one. Then we went to work constructing it. For our group of five we first started with a frame that was both wood and metal rods. Galvenized aluminum and perferated steel panels were bent and then put on top of the frame. Posters were also displayed along with our project during presentation.
