Orange Liquid Guided Imagery

This involves going into your own space and using your imagination following the directions of a guide. The guide may be friend, group leader or may be your or someone else's voice on an audiotape.

Choose a quiet time and a quiet place. Sit comfortably. Use a straight backed chair and sit up straight, feet on the floor, hands resting gently on your thighs. Go into your own space.


READ SLOWLY

Make this 15 a quiet time and a quiet place. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath, (deep into your chest and toward your stomach and let it out slowly in a count of five. Sit up straight, feet on the floor, hands resting gently on your thighs. Go into your own space. Take another deep breath and let it out slowly in a count of five.

PAUSE - READ SLOWLY

Imagine that your whole body is made out of glass. Imagine that you can see right through your body. Your body looks just like a glass bottle in the shape of a person.

PAUSE

Now imagine that there is a cork on the top of your head. Someone invisible removes the cork and begins to pour orange liquid into your glass bottle body. Feel the liquid trickle down the sides and begin to collect in your toes. The orange liquid is still being poured in and the level of the liquid is rising. It reaches your knees and begins to fill your pelvic area. The sensation of the liquid filling you up is pleasant and you like it.

The level keeps rising and it is coming up to your waist - PAUSE - now through your chest. As it reaches your arm pits it starts to spill over into your arms. The liquid tickles as it drops into your fingers and it feels good

The level of the orange liquid rises through your arms, up past your elbows, and up to your shoulders. Still the orange liquid is poured in and the level rises through your throat, up past your nose, and to the very top of your head. You feel fine.

PAUSE

Notice how' pretty the glass bottle body looks all filled up with orange liquid. Now notice that there are corks on the ends of your toes and fingers. Someone invisible takes out all of these corks and the orange liquid begins to drain out of the glass bottle body.

PAUSE - READ SLOWLY

Notice that as the liquid drains out, it takes with it all the stress and tension that were in the body. First, all of the tension drains out of the head and neck, then out of the shoulders, the arms and torso. Feel all the tension draining out of the bottle. The orange liquid is draining out of the legs, taking with it all of the tension left in the body. As the last drop drains away, you feel completely relaxed.

PAUSE

Now it is time to come back. Picture the features of the room. As I count to ten, open your eyes any time after the count of five. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
