Finding Articles Using Databases

Databases provide subject access to journal articles, reports, standards, and other publications. The Cal Poly Pomona Library provides access to nearly 100 databases. You can get to our Databases & Article Searching page via the Library home page:

Library Home Page with databases link

You then get a page with a pulldown for subject categories:

library database search screen

Choose the category Science and look at the number and variety of databases avaiable there.

The demonstration below uses the database called Applied Science Full Text to show how a typical database search is conducted. When you use other databases, you will see variations in their search capabilities.

Please be aware that the SFX system can also pass on your request for an item to Document Delivery (a service for getting materials we don't have).
