My own interest in Coastal Sage Scrub is entirely academic (and thus, entirely appropriate for a librarian, to my way of thinking). Though I am no stranger to chaparral, I had not heard of CSS until I moved to Southern California and was content to merely compile links about it without ever having seen any of it or set foot in it. Unfortunately, a few years ago, while taking the train tour of the San Diego Wild Animal Park, the tour guide announced that next to the train was an excellent example of CSS. So I have seen it, but not yet set foot in it.
