The Human Resources Department supports the university by providing advice, consultation, support, policies and procedures in staff employment, recruitment, employee and labor relations, compensation and classification, as well as benefits administration for both faculty and staff. There are a total of 11 bargaining units in the CSU system. Human Resources is part of the larger area of Human Resource Services.
The Employment/Compensation/Classification Analyst will analyze and process incoming Recruitment Requests; process temporary appointment extensions; notify employees as they obtain permanent status; process Permanent and Temporary Reassignments; analyze and process Temporary Reassignment extensions; prepare and distribute all Change in Status letters, including time-base changes and movement from temporary to probationary status; prepare and distribute Permanent Status letters; prepare and distribute End Letters for appointments and reassignments that are ending early; review eligibility for Service Credit. The incumbent will also answer general employment and compensation/classification questions; analyze and process requests for additional half-time probationary appointments; analyze and process requests for THI appointments as well as handle staff recruitments as assigned. The incumbent will handle all aspects and coordinate the Employment Temporary Pools and Hires, including reviewing applications for minimum qualifications, communicating with hiring managers, departments/applicants while coordinating start dates, drafting appointment letters and arranging parking for new hires. The incumbent will meet with temporary emergency hires to review appointment letters, sign Payroll documents, and answer any inquires while ensuring that information on the website is always up-to-date. The Employment/Compensation/Classification Analyst will prepare and distribute reclassification and appeal forms and letters; update the classification files; analyze and process in-range progression salary increases; fulfill requests from employees; assist in transitioning classification files to OnBase imaging system and may serve on a committee/team to accomplish this. The incumbent will perform special assignments for Manager of Employment and Compensation which may include keeping measurements on activities in the area of responsibility, researching information, making copies and performing data input into spreadsheets; may assist the Comp/Class Specialist as needed with completing surveys or implementing salary programs; may assist in working with Employment/Comp intern and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree AND/OR the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Two years related working experience. Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty; basic knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental concepts; working knowledge of budget policies and procedures; ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit, and/or administrative specialty; knowledge of basic methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques; ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities; ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment; ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; demonstrated ability establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Work experience in Human Resources, preferably in higher education or in a larger organization and familiarity with a union environment is preferred.
