The Central Applications unit is within the Enterprise Applications department, within the I&IT Division. I&IT Central Applications support the applications and databases for various campus information systems.
The Application Developer will establish, using the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), techniques which include: a) requiring gathering, b) design, c) development, d) testing, e) support. The incumbent will develop new software components using standard programming techniques and tools, following the specifications that are provided; follow common practices for the environment in which software is being developed; conduct unit and integration testing of new and modified software for correct operation and performance; document test cases and results. The incumbent will coordinate with other technical staff members and users in the completion of software work; document development sufficiently to facilitate ongoing support and maintenance; submit new and modified software for application to the production environment following established procedures; coordinate these activities with other technical staff and with users; assist in the production of new development, release, upgrade, or implementation projects; work with end-users to coordinate unit, integration, and system testing; collaborate with faculty, staff, management, and vendors to address technical and functional issues, as well as implement new products and services or enhance existing services to meet campus and/or department needs. Upon request, the incumbent will perform project management on sub-projects within an overall campus or department project; crate user reports; respond to requests from campus users for assistance; document issues being reported; investigate issues and provide solutions; perform root cause analysis for issues; escalate issues to the appropriate escalation point as necessary; document solutions for future references; as needed, work with management and other technical staff to resolve technical software issues. The incumbent will perform code review, upon request as well as analyze requests for new features or functionally, or requests to modify existing functionality, or requests to modify existing functionality and perform other duties as assigned.
A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field with relevant experience totaling two (2) years full-time or the equivalent part-time OR eight years of relevant full-time experience. (Associate degree does not substitute for experience in this classification).
Finalists for this position may be required to submit to and successfully pass a background check prior to being hired.
