THE UNIVERSITY

THE POSITION 

The Associate Dean position (Management Personnel Plan Administrator III) reports to the Dean of Business Administration, serves as a member of the College leadership team, and works closely with other University administrators.  The Associate Dean has delegated responsibility for a substantial part of the College’s operations including, but not limited to, overseeing the Undergraduate Student Success Center, supporting undergraduate programs, collaborating with university offices to ensure compliance with university requirements.  The Associate Dean assists the Dean in fostering an environment conducive to academic quality and collegiality; faculty development in research; innovation and open discussion; and an appreciation for ethnic, cultural and social diversity.  Within the College, the Associate Dean works closely with Department Chairs and promotes collaboration, team building and active involvement with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the surrounding community.  The Associate Dean plays a key role in the strategic planning process and in the maintenance of AACSB accreditation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Dean

    • Supports College initiatives to promote excellence in teaching, and undergraduate programs ,
    • Manages the operations of the CBA Student Success Center,
    • Collaborates with department chairs and faculty regarding undergraduate curriculum and program assessment,
    • Supervises implementation of University undergraduate program initiatives such as First Year Experience,
    • Coordinates and attends student outreach events
    • Coordinates and participates in student orientation programs,
    • Coordinates and promotes undergraduate student club activities,
    • Collaborates with university offices (e.g., Academic Programs, Registrar and Judicial Affairs) to ensure compliance with policy and procedure,
    • Collaborates with university offices (e.g. Academic Programs, University Housing, Admission and Outreach, Honors College) to develop outreach and undergraduate retention programs,
    • Analyzes, evaluates and reports information required by the University and AACSB,
    • Serves as a HEERA manager, 
    • Together with the other associate dean, represents the Dean to the University and community in the Dean’s absence,
    • Other duties as assigned by the Dean

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated prior leadership experience such as an administrator, a department chair, an academic leader or equivalent (minimum four years),
    • An earned doctorate in a field relevant to the College mission,
    • Tenure or a record of teaching and scholarship commensurate with a senior (associate or full professor) appointment with tenure,
    • Knowledge and appreciation of the College of Business disciplines and their relationships within the college,
      • Ability to foster and promote an environment supportive of a diverse and collegial student body, faculty, and staff;
      • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with faculty and staff members,
      • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with current and prospective students,
      • Ability to work collaboratively with University offices such as Academic Programs, and Admissions and Outreach,
      • Understanding of and experience in college and university governance,
      • Knowledge of the College of Business Administration disciplines and undergraduate curriculum at a level sufficient for collaboration with department chairs for course planning and scheduling.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Knowledge of the curriculum development process,
      • Experience in developing, coordinating or implementing assessment programs,
      • Ability to continuously improve student services for undergraduate programs,
      • Experience working in an academic unit,
      • Experience in shared governance,
      • Ability to provide strategic direction to the undergraduate business program
      • Demonstrated ability in managing academic resources
      • Knowledge of AACSB accreditation requirements

      ANTICIPATED DATE OF APPOINTMENT/SALARY:

      The University seeks to fill this position by June 14, 2013.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The position will remain open until filled.
