The Human Resources Department supports the University by providing advice, consultation, support, policies and procedures in staff employment, recruitment, employee and labor relations, compensation and classification, as well as benefits administration for both faculty and staff.
The Risk Management Department is charged with protecting the University personnel including faculty, staff, students and guests, as well as the physical assets of the University. The coordination of a Business Continuity Program and Records/Information Retention & Disposition Schedules Implementation are the responsibilities of this position.
Organization Development and Training (ODT) is responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of organizational development and training activities for Cal Poly Pomona employees.  Diversity and Compliance is responsible for compliance with Federal and State EEO laws and regulations and related CSU executive orders.  Human Resources, Risk Management, Diversity and Compliance and ODT are part of the larger area of Human Resources Services which is part of the Administrative Affairs Division.


The Training and Business Continuity Analyst assists the Director of Diversity, Risk Management, and ODT in coordinating and delivering training and development programs and events on campus; assists in developing, researching and coordinating training programs; coordinates the training logistics, materials, preparation, follow up and tacking for training programs and events; securing rooms, equipment, speakers, and supplies used in activities; and assists with facilitation of workshops and events.  The incumbent participates in the coordination and maintenance of comprehensive contingency plans to ensure the University’s ability to recover from an interruption of normal business operation; assists each division in identifying, prioritizing, and analyzing critical functions; assists departments in the development of individual continuity plans for critical functions; works closely with Instructional & Information Technology to ensure technical requirements are identified, prioritized, and supported; and ensures completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all operational functions related to the business continuity plan.  The incumbent ensures that the University complies with Executive Order 1014; oversees the maintenance of a campus-wide business continuity computer system/database; serves as a resource to division representative; serves as the liaison to off-campus agencies relating to contingency planning; and ensures the campus in operating in compliance with the California State University Records/Information Retention and Disposition Schedules (E.O. 1031).  The incumbent oversees the Human Resource Services Learning Lab Program; serves as the main contact, and coordinates all details, regarding the internship with the HRS Department, applicants, new interns, and the Management & Human Resources Department, College of Business Administration; ensures internship program complies with course requirements; and coordinates intern’s computer and PeopleSoft access.  The incumbent provides assistance to Diversity and Compliance in preparation of reports and investigations for University compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination laws and training.  The incumbent provides assistance to the Employment Services area as needed; serves as a back-up for the Employment/Compensation/Classification Analyst position; handles temporary emergency hires, temporary extensions, recruitment, permanent and temporary reassignments, new hire orientations, prepares appointment letters and other types of employment letters; provides assistance in proctoring tests for Dispatchers and Police Officer recruitments; and provides assistance to the compensation/classification area as needed and performs other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree AND/OR the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.  Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty; basic knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental concepts; working knowledge of budget policies and procedures; ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit, and/or administrative specialty; knowledge of basic methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques; ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities; ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment; ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; demonstrated ability establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Two years of experience in Human Resources in a higher education environment; experience in business contingency planning, development, and maintenance; relevant work experience in higher education with the scope and complexity sufficient to demonstrate the ability to be successful in this position; experience implementing a business continuity plan for the CSU system; and a Business Continuity Certification is highly desirable.
