THE DEPARTMENT 

Student Health Services provides education, prevention and healing services to students of Cal Poly Pomona University and provides ambulatory health care and health education programs for the students and visitors of the university. Student Health is the largest department in Student Services with thirty six (36) staff members and an annual operating budget of $5.3million.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Associate Director for Clinical Services serves as the principle advisor to the Director of Student Health Services. The incumbent shares responsibilities for the operation and maintenance of Student Health Services with the Director and the assistance of the Director's Administrative Analyst; is responsible for the daily operation of the ambulatory care clinic which includes staffing assignments for nurses, clinicians, ancillary staff and adequate medical supplies and equipment; manages peak period of patient traffic and the smooth flow of patients insuring that they are seen on a timely basis; oversees all Student Health Services clinical and laboratory accreditation activities; tracks all clinical staff requests for time off; collaborates with Physician, Laboratory and Radiology Directors on applicable ancillary services; and collaborates with the lead and reception to ensure appointment scheduling and staffing is maintained at adequate levels to support daily operations of the Health Center. The incumbent oversees scheduling of all immunization clinics, group physicals, well patient pre-physicals and all special events that require participation or attendance of Student Health Services staff; serves as a liaison with Student Health Services staff in interpreting policies and encouraging communication between departments; provides guidance in the purchase and inventory of medical supplies and equipment; leads, assigns and evaluates all nursing staff members; and oversees the scheduling of the immunization clinic to meet student requirements for registration. The incumbent functions as a Registered Nurse when needed to provide coverage in any patient care area; represents nursing staff in formulating general policy and interpreting the same to the nursing and ancillary services staff; serves on any Student Health Services committee and serves as Chair of the Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee; and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

The candidate must have a License in the State of California as a Registered Nurse. Prior administrative and supervisory experience in ambulatory care clinic or college health is preferred; leadership capabilities; administrative skills in scheduling, decision making, conflict resolution; communication skills and ability to listen to divergent views; experience in evaluating staff performance; and loyalty to staff and the organization. The candidate must have knowledge of Vital Signs Monitoring Equipment, EKG machine, spirometer, vision and hearing testing machines, Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as well as knowledge of PC, Windows XP/Vista, MS Office, and Med Pro.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in a Healthcare related field and a minimum of five (5) years administrative and supervisory experience in ambulatory care clinic, college health or acute care facility is desirable.

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
