THE DEPARTMENT 

The Instructional & Information Technology (I&IT) Development department supports the top-level campus web pages and university-wide web applications including BroncoDirect. The I&IT Division's goal is to provide an environment that encourages and enables all members of the campus community to reach and maintain a level of technological competence and comfort that facilitates their access to the information and services appropriate to their role on campus and forms a basis for professional and personal growth.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Web Application Programmer designs, writes, tests, and implements server and client side web applications in both campus-wide and I&IT production and non-production environments; designs and programs web based applications; collaborates in development of application back-end databases and requirement-gathering for web applications and maintenance of completed web application; collaborates with I&IT Applications in setup and maintenance of development and production databases and with I&IT Systems in setup and maintenance of production web servers. Provides backup support for modification of static web page content and backup support for creation of static and dynamic web pages, including use of the Cal Poly Pomona web templates; works with other members of the department in project teams, and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field OR four years of relevant full-time experience. Basic knowledge of specialty work area demonstrated by an understanding and use of general principals and terminology; demonstrates understanding of the standard technology and systems in place with the capability of supporting and operating this technology; recognizes problems, identifies possible causes and refers to appropriate party for resolution; ability to solve problems where precedents exist, and acquire knowledge in related specialties; demonstrates competence to work as a team member; and ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

One or more years of experience in designing, programming, testing, and implementing web applications, including applications in a production environment; web application languages.
