- Open
“anes008.sav” file
- Click
on “Data,” and on “Weight Cases…”; select
“Weight cases by”; in the left window, click on “weight” and click on the
right arrow; click on “OK.”
- Click on "Transform," and "Compute Variable..."; in the left window, type "efficacy1"; in the right window, type "efficacy1a + efficacy1b + efficacy1c + efficacy1d"; click on OK.
- Click on "Transform," and "Compute Variable..."; in the left window, type "efficacy2"; in the right window, type "efficacy2a + efficacy2b + efficacy2c + efficacy2d"; click on OK.
- Click on
“Transform,” “Recode Into Same Variables…”; in the
left window, select “efficacy1" and "efficacy2"; click on the right arrow; click on "Old and New Values... ."
- On the left side, click on "System-missing"; on the right side, type "0" in the first window; click on "Continue" and "OK."
- In ""Variable View," scroll down to the "efficacy1" row; click on the right side of the box in the "Missing Values" column; click on "Discrete missing values" and enter "-9"; click on "OK;" do the same for "efficacy2."
- Click on "Transform," and "Compute Variable..."; in the left window, type "efficacy"; in the right window, type "efficacy1 + efficacy2"; click on OK.
- Click on
“Transform,” “Recode Into Same Variables…”; in the
left window, select “efficacy1," "efficacy2," and "efficacy"; click on the right arrow; click on "Old and New Values... ."
- On the left side, click on "Range" and enter "4" and "10"; on the right side, enter "1" in the first window; click on "Add."
- On the left side, click on "Range" and enter "11" and "12"; on the right side, enter "2" in the first window; click on "Add."
- On the left side, click on "Range" and enter "13" and "20"; on the right side, enter "3" in the first window; click on "Add"; click on "Continue" and "OK."
- In "Variable View," to go to the "Labels" column; in the row for "efficacy1"; type "Efficacy Scale, version 1"; in the row for "efficacy2"; type "Efficacy Scale, version 2 "; in the row for "efficacy"; type "Efficacy Scale, combined version."
- In "Variable View," click on the right side
on the box in the “Values” column; in the
box next to “Value:” type “1”; in the box next to “Value Label:” type
“Low”; click on “Add”; in the box next to “Value:” type “2”; in
the box next to “Value Label:” type “Medium”; click on "Add"; in the box next to
“Value:” type “3”; in the box next to “Value Label:” type “High”; click on “Add”; click on “OK.”
- Click
on “Analyze,” “Descriptive Statistics,” and “Crosstabs….”
- In left
window, select “efficacy”; click on first right arrow; in
left window, select “incomer”; click
on second right arrow; click on "Cells," select "Columns" and click on "Continue" ; click on “Statistics”; select "Kendall's
tau-b”; click on “Continue”; click
on “OK.”
