Portfolio

The purpose of the portfolio is to showcase your knowledge of plant anatomy. It should include what you regard to be the best of your work from the course, either from the assignments (typically the Anatomy Around Us write-ups), from preparations or other discoveries in the laboratory, or from “side-projects” that interest you. And it should place all this information in a context of your choosing (related to plant anatomy, of course). A portfolio is expected to contain photographs taken in class (by you or by others on your behalf), text written by you, and literature references. An “A” portfolio will in addition show evidence of synthesis and critical thinking on your part.

Ideally, portfolios will be submitted electronically, on CD-R, in HTML or Microsoft Word format. Please discuss with me ahead of time any other format for submission.

Your portfolio is your intellectual property, belonging to you and protected by copyright law. In consideration of the use of departmental facilities, you grant to the Biological Sciences Department of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, a non-exclusive right in perpetuity to reproduce your submission, in part or in whole, in any medium of expression, for the educational purposes of the Department (including BioTrek). Your works will be attributed to you whenever they are used, and they will be made available to others through the Creative Commons attribution-no derivatives license. If you do not agree to this license for a specific work, please do not submit it.

This is the official syllabus of BOT 435 as taught by Curtis Clark. It is subject to change without notice to anyone but students currently enrolled in the class.
