A Note on Pronunciation

The pronunciation sound files are my voice. There are certain things you should keep in mind as you use them, especially if English is not your first language.
- Although to the best of my knowledge, none of the pronunciations is “incorrect”, some are less-common variants. Nevertheless, any professional English-speaking biologist should be able to understand them.
- American pronunciation of these words sometimes differs from British pronunciation.
- I grew up in Oklahoma, speaking a regional dialect that sounds different from “TV news announcer English”. Although much of that accent has been lost, it still affects the pronunciation of some words.
- Most biological terms can be pronounced phonetically.
