For over thirty years, Dr. Janet Harms has forged a distinguished and enviable musical career. Gifted as a conductor, organist and teacher, this university professor was blessed with childhood musical support and encouragement. Dr. Harm's professional training received vital momentum with a scholarship to the renowned Juilliard School of Music in New York at the age of 13. Earning advanced degrees from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, and a doctorate from New York's Columbia University, she accepted teaching posts at Nyack College, NY (1972-1981), and Azusa Pacific University (1982-1986) and the University of Redlands (1993-1997) in California. She is currently a Lecturer at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and Professor of Organ at Azusa Pacific University and Biola University (La Mirada). Drawing from an astonishinly large area of southern California, the 75 voice Chorale has performed locally from San Diego to San Luis Obispo and has twice traveled to New York for performances at Carnegie Hall. As a concert organist, Dr. Harms has presented over 80 recitals in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and France. Another European concert tour is planned for the summer of 2002.
