John Moore is Professor Emeritus of History at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Director of the Virginia and Douglass Adair Symposia: Studies of Constitutional Democracy, Faculty Advisor for the university ’s National Model United Nations program, and Faculty Advisor for Cal Poly Pomona’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the honorary history society. He has recently completed, with coauthor Jerry Pubantz, his tenth book, The New United Nations: International Organization in the Twenty-First Century (2005). Moore and Pubantz are also editors of the Encyclopedia of the UN (2002). In the Fall and Winter of 2004, Moore was László Országh Distinguished Chair of History in Hungary. This was his second Fulbright assignment. During the Winter and Spring of 1999, he was Senior Fulbright Scholar/Lecturer in Finland. The following year he and his coauthor, Professor Pubantz, received an “Outstanding Academic Title for the Year 2000” award from the American Library Association for their book To Create a New World? American Presidents and the United Nations.
