Subject: New Public Printers
Just wanted to inform you that Systems has
replaced 3 aging CMS printers with 3 brand new Kyocera FN-4000DN
printers (2 on 2nd floor and 1 on 4th floor).
We have acquired 4 printers and the last one is reserved for the 24
hour lab. The new printers are faster and better print quality than
the old ones, but the print process is basically the same. At this
moment, we cannot provide more than 4 printers because we don’t have
enough accessories like cash box, card reader, etc to go with them.
FYI.
-
Laptop users
cannot tap into our CMS system to print because of technical and
other issues. We are looking into this possibility in the next
system.
-
Current CMS
system does NOT take the new $5 bills.
-
Quick Lookup
computers have NO restrictions whatsoever and require NO
authentication (NO BroncoName/Password required, but a generic
logon is needed by Windows XP). The generic logon information will
display if someone logs off the computer.
-
Quick Lookup
computers are almost identical to Learning Common computers in
terms of software applications.
-
All public
computers display their logon information on the screen.
-
All public
computers start up automatically at 7:25 in the morning unless the
clock is off and they will go to sleep mode in 20 minutes.
-
The quickest
way to wake up a computer is press the Enter key on the keyboard.
If that fails, try powering on the computer again.
-
5 flatbed
scanners are located at Productivity Center.
-
4th
floor computers are the slowest of all. 5th and 6th
floor computers are identical and fairly new.
-
Students can
easily find their print jobs at the print release by print job
description, Logon (e.g. TQHE), workstation number, time
printed...
Let me know if you need more information,

Photocopying and printing prices are on
the
Photocopying and Printing Page (It is hard to find via the home
page: it's Home Page > Borrowing and Circulation > Photocopying and
Printing). When you put in a dollar bill to get a copy card, you only
get 50 cents worth of copying on it.
The campus lacks a "one card" system so
the copy cards purchased in the library don't work anywhere else on
campus.

The Library offers no fax,
color printing or color photocopying , and no oversize
photocopying, either. You can send the patron to
Bronco Copy and Mail in the Student Center (building 35) for these
services (except for scanning).
Bronco Copy and Mail will also print
students' word documents from disk ($1 per disk plus regular copying
charges). Scanning is supposed to be available in the student computer
lab called
The
Computing Commons (98-C5-13 ) . Printing (both black and white and
color) is available from the computing commons and the
Campus Center lab (97-121).
