Library/CAPS
Representative on the URTP
The Librarians and eligible members of CAPS (Counseling
and Psychological Services)*
elect a representative to the
University Retention, Tenure and Reappointment (URTP) Committee. This
committee reviews each RTP package and makes its own
recommendation on each candidate. The representative serves a two or three year
term and cannot serve more than four consecutive years. The functions of the URTP committee are
described in section 305.5 in Appendix 16 of the
University Manual.The election of
our URTP representative is managed by the Senate and does not originate with
the Librarians Group.
The
URTP representative is ineligible to serve on the Library RTP committee and
must be a tenured full librarian or full counselor.
In the 1980's, Reference Librarian Karen
Harvey served as the chair of URTP and is the only Librarian to have done
so.
