Senator
The Librarians elect a senator to serve on the campus
Academic Senate.
It is a 3 year term. Our senator votes as our representative on issues coming to the senate and usually keeps track of openings on
campus committees attached to the senate and tries to find librarians to
fill them. Our Senator also is on the
Executive Committee of the Senate.
The election of a Senator is managed by the Senate and does not originate
with the Librarians Group. All tenure track (tenured and probationary)
librarians are eligible to serve. Elections are supposed to be held by May 1.
A Librarian has served as the Chair of the
Senate once: University Bibliographer Mary Lee DeVilbiss presided in 1981 and
was the first woman to hold that office.
Librarians can also serve on the
CSU Academic Senate (a
statewide body), but there is no requirement for a Librarian to be on it.
Each
statewide academic senator [from this campus] shall be an ex-officio voting
member of the [campus] Academic Senate. |
