Librarian Emeritus
Librarians are eligible for emeritus status, which
carries certain
privileges. The following is the library policy:
Librarian Emeritus Procedures
-
Objection to
automatic awarding of emeritus status:
A. An
objection to the awarding of Emeritus status may be brought by any
Librarian to the Cal Poly Librarians’ Group.
B. A
vote by secret ballot will be taken to sustain the objection. A
simple majority will sustain the objection. If sustained, the
objection will be forwarded to the Academic Senate.
-
Recommendation
for awarding emeritus status for lesser periods of service:
A. A
motion that the Librarians recommend emeritus status for a
Librarian with less than the minimum of 12 years of service may be
brought by any Librarian to the Cal Poly Librarians’ Group.
B.
A vote by secret ballot
will be taken to carry the motion. A simple majority will carry
the motion. If carried, a committee of one or more Librarians will
be appointed to develop a resolution statement. The recommendation
that emeritus status will be awarded and the resolution statement
will be forwarded to the Academic Senate. Originally Adopted in
1992
