The International Center, in collaboration with various campus student clubs, Associated Students, Inc (ASI), and OSL Multicultural Council (MCC) host "International Education Week,"  Promoting global awareness and diversity, this special week includes a variety of activities on campus.

Check out the international foods at Los Olivos in celebration of the International Education Week!

Hosted by various clubs on campus
Set up by 11:30am, clean up by 1:30pm
12:10 p.m. International Parade (Opening Ceremony)
Please come out to watch or participate in the parade
(All are welcome to participate: faculty, staff, students will be needed from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. for the parade)

Leah Newell (moderator):
Leah Newell currently serves as the Associate Director of the International Center at Cal Poly Pomona. She is a Return Peace Corps Volunteer (Mali, West Africa, 88-90), a former American Field Service (AFS) student to Ecuador and a career international educator resulting in extensive travel throughout the world. Her past professional positions have included work in international offices serving study abroad and international students and scholars at various institutions of higher education; training international professionals in the U.S. and abroad via an international training consortium and supporting international educators and international education issues through work at the leading international education and exchange association in Washington, DC.

Katie Mock:
Katie Mock is a recruiter for the Disney College Program, and internship program that provides college students the opportunity to gain real world experience working with the Disneyland Resort or the Walt Disney World Resort.

Allan Paloutzian:
Allan Paloutzian is a recently retired Peace Corps regional recruiter. While serving in the Peace Corps (Nigeria, West Africa, 64-66), Allan implemented programs with village youth and farmers similar to those of 4-H and Future Farmers of America that he knew as a youth in California's San Joaquin Valley. Following his retirement in 2008, Allan has been active with his continuing support for Peace Corps and also volunteers with the Habitat for Humanity. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and fishing.

Carolina Garza De Luna:
Carolina is an alumnus of the Gender, Ethnicity, and Multicultural Studies (GEMS) program of Cal Poly Pomona. Currently, Carolina works as a community and intergroup conflict mediator with the Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center (APADRC) whose mission is to "improve human relations and race relations by addressing complex, cross-cultural community conflicts and their root causes through collaboration with community partners."

Shelley Bruce:
Shelley Allison Bruce is a fourth year student at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Gender Ethnic and Multicultural Studies (GEMS) and Fine Arts. She traveled twice to Ghana during a summer study abroad program through CPP, and was touched by the people of the country that in Summer 2009, she painted a mural at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre in Accra, Ghana.
