Newly Admitted International Students

Welcome to Cal Poly Pomona! The International Center looks forward to assisting newly admitted international students’ transition to university life through our Success 101 program. Please bring your original Cal Poly Pomona I-20, previous "continued attendance" (transfers), F-1 visa, I-94, passport, completed student information form and the online form.

Success 101

Success 101 is mandatory for all international students. Please register for Success 101 based on your academic major. Lunch will be provided for the day.

NOTE: All undergraduate freshmen and transfer students are also required to attend a Campus Orientation where you will register for classes. For information about Campus Orientation, please go to the Orientation Services website.

I-20 Process

To receive an I-20 from the International Center, please submit the following documents:

NOTE: The International Center will begin processing I-20s for incoming Fall 2014 students after May 1st.  We will send you an email in May with this process of obtaining an I-20.

  • Financial Affidavit (bank statements cannot be older than six (6) months from start date)
  • Signed agreement to purchase health insurance form
  • Copy of passport (photo page)
  • Attention transfer students - we can only begin working on your I-20 process once we receive your SEVIS record, and if all the above documents are submitted
    • Instructions on Transferring your SEVIS record to Cal Poly Pomona: To transfer your SEVIS record (electronic version of your I-20), please contact your current school's international advisor. Complete the Transfer-in Form and have your current school fax it back to our office at (909) 869-3282.  Our SEVIS code is LOS214F00334000.

Health Insurance

As an international student, you are required to purchase the health insurance policy provided by Wells Fargo Student Health Insurance. The annual policy must be purchased for the entire year and the rate is $1,089. No quarterly enrollment is permitted. Please enroll online (students can now enroll in health insurance).

    1. Click on Find your school's plan
    2. Select Cal Poly Pomona
    3. Click enroll in the 2014-2015 Cal Poly Pomona - International
    4. Complete the form and pay by Credit Card
    5. At the end of the enrollment process, you will be provided with a confirmation of your enrollment. A permanent insurance card will be mailed to the address you provide when enrolling. It is your responsibility to keep the address current with Wells Fargo.
