Steps to follow after being admitted
- Complete Transfer In Form
and submit it to the International Center (Building 1 Room 104)
- Obtain I-20
- - If you are out of the country: Contact the International Center and request for your I-20 to be mailed to your home country. You must agree to pay the shipping fees.
- If you are near the Cal Poly Pomona vicinity: Contact the International Center and request for your I-20 to be processed. When it is ready, come to the international center to pick it up, and bring with you, your passport with I-94 and Visa, and any old I-20s.
- Attend University’s Orientation - Orientation Services (909) 869-3604
- Attend International Student Orientation through the International Center
NOTE: The international center must make copies of your passport with your I-94 and visa, and any old I-20’s within 10 days after the first day of the quarter.
J-1 Students - Guide to CPP Admission
- Only students from our exchange partner university can participate in the exchange program. Please refer to our list of exchange partners.
- Talk to your exchange program coordinator to see whether or not you can participate in the exchange program and whether there is an imbalance fee.
- Check with your University if there are any requirement to participate in the exchange program.
- Requirement from Cal Poly Pomona:
- Complete J-1 Undergraduate Exchange Student Application
- Proof of Financial Support is Required
- - A current bank letter or statement in English must accompany your application showing at least $4,500.00 U.S. dollars on deposit for each quarter (term) you will attend Cal Poly Pomona.
- Provide Official Transcripts in English
- Provide a Passport Size Photo (Size 2x2)
- Official TOEFL Score
- - All students must include proof of English language proficieny by submitting a recent computer based TOEFL test score of at least 197 (71 Internet-based). Students from the following countries are exempt: Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, and the U.K. More information about the TOEFL test can be found at: http://www.ets.org/toefl/
- Health Insurance Coverage
- - Students are required to purchase an approved policy through the International Center upon arrival on campus at a competitive premium of approximately $204.00 per quarter.
- - You must have the following minimum health insurance coverage for your entire length of stay in the US:
- - $50,000 medical coverage per sickness or accident
- - $10,000 for medical evacuation to home country
- - $7,500 for repatriation of remains to home country
- Turn in all the necessary forms and documents to your exchange coordinator.
