Department Program Mission & Program Educational Objectives
The
IME Department at Cal Poly Pomona has the following Mission and
Objectives. Our Mission and Program Objectives are consistent
with those of the University and College of Engineering. They
have been developed and approved by the faculty and major stakeholders
and are designed to fulfill requirements common to ABET accredited
engineering programs.
Mission
Statement
The
Mission of the IME Department is:
- To
serve the university, the community, and our alumni by offering
ABET accredited degree programs and courses that prepare students
for study at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
- To
teach sound engineering principles, ethics and theory supported
with significant classroom, laboratory and industrial experiences
to a diverse student population. Our goal is to prepare students
for immediate and productive entry into todays workplace or the
best graduate schools.
- To
continuously improve the curriculum, faculty, scheduling, advising,
teaching methods, facilities, and student services while maintaining
safety of students, faculty, and staff as a top priority.
- To
educate the general public about the exciting fields of industrial
and manufacturing engineering and the opportunities available
at Cal Poly Pomona.

Program
objectives describe the goals for graduates in years following
graduation.
Industrial
Engineering graduates will:
1.
Enjoy successful careers in industry, research, or academia.
2. Continue to pursue knowledge and professional growth.
3. Perform leadership roles by enhancing collaboration between
engineers, scientists, professional, and business people.
4. Contribute as professionally, ethically, and globally aware
members of society.
5. Engage in design and integration of production, quality management,
and information systems to provide optimal solutions.
6. Understand and influence the fiscal aspects of their business
or company.
Manufacturing
Engineering graduates will:
1.
Enjoy successful careers in industry, research, or academia.
2. Continue to pursue knowledge and professional growth.
3. Perform leadership roles by enhancing collaboration between
engineers, scientists, professional, and business people.
4. Contribute as professionally, ethically, and globally aware
members of society.
5. Engage in the design and integration of materials transformation
and production processes.
6. Positively impact the fiscal performance of manufacturing
