The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering to begin Fall 2013.  The Department serves approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate students.

The Position:  Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising students, conducting research, and providing services to the department, college and university.  Candidates must be able to effectively teach theory as well as develop innovative lab projects.  Successful candidates will help with the establishment of a master’s degree in systems engineering, and other curriculum development. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering or a closely-related field from accredited educational institution by September 2013
  • Expertise in application of Systems Engineering and Optimization in logistics, service and production environments
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student and community populations

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare operations, biomedical manufacturing and quality will be a bonus
  • At least two years of relevant professional engineering work experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in applied research and grants in industrial or systems engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to be responsive to the educational equity goals of the university and its increasing ethnic diversity and international character
