Celebrity Guest Sharon Stone speaks out on her crusade to prevent repetitive motion and back injuries. Sharon says:

"It is critically important that the capacity and performance limitations of the human body be considered when designing the work or play environment. Too often the natural ability of the body and mind is ignored and the long term results are injury or poor performance. As an actor I am often called upon to rehearse and play physically demanding scenes over and over again until the director is satisfied. My biggest fear is that I will suffer from some sort of `repetitive motion' , back, or `friction related' injury. When you work hard and play hard like I do, thinking 'ergonomically' is very important. I also look for that quality in the men in my life." |

Tip #1: Always choose seating that is the correct height for your size. Seating that is too high or too low is bad on the back. Also, look for a chair with a firm back support and armrests. |
| Tip #2: To prevent back injuries, always keep your spine erect (if it is not going to be supported). Bending at the waist puts enormous pressure on your lower back. | ![]() |

Tip #3: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a very common forearm/wrist injury caused by repetitive motion. Keep the wrist straight and forces moderate to prevent strains in this area. |
Sharon's final caution: "Always have your work and play environment evaluated by an ergonomics professional. Only they can properly evaluate your situation and find those hidden hazards. I will only trust my body to the hands of a skilled professional."
