I&IT Projects and Services Strategic Plan, 2007–2012

Strategic Mission

Deliver well managed, timely and innovative IT solutions and services for the campus. Offer innovative learning environments through the use of technology installed in and delivered to classrooms to enrich the learning experience.

Strategic Direction and Tactics

  1. Providing leadership and coordination of business and budget processes for the division. Perform project management for high profile or complex campus-wide IT projects to ensure that deadlines are set, met and communicated appropriately.
    • Ensure that system changes are coordinated in an efficient manner and that the people impacted will know of changes ahead of time.
    • Define a smooth flowing business process that enables the I&IT division to take projects from conception, pilot, budgeting and implementation in a methodical fashion.
    • Ensure that IT projects are coordinated with other departments and divisions in the university and that they satisfy the users’ needs.
    • Make certain that updates to projects are conducted and deadlines are met and/or adjusted.
    • Ensure that division management and leads know priorities that may affect their planning.
    • Assess that all project plans and business processes are followed or adjusted to ensure successful results.
  2. Improve our current business processes to better serve our customers.
    • Recommend and lead committees to address the continuous improvement of I&IT business  processes, including but not limited to:
      • Committees that address service issues (e.g., fix it)
      • I&IT Business Continuity
    • Provide feedback and consultation to ensure that the needs for process or business improvements are identified.
  3. Provide innovative technology services to the faculty, staff and students that support the achievement of their learning outcomes and business objectives.
    • Support the broadening of CalPoly Pomona’s classroom experience through the use of a variety of learning technologies and delivery means.
    • Provide technology enhanced gathering places (e.g., computer labs) for students, faculty and staff to do homework, research, do university business or to stay connected with the campus community.
    • Provide innovative learning space design and implementation to ensure that faculty and students have a rich learning environment.
