Following the success of the three Summer & Winter Institute sessions held in June, July, and December 2008 and attended by 60+ faculty members, I&IT Learning will be offering additional opportunities during the Summer of 2009. A week-long faculty development program provides resources to faculty for redesigning classroom-based courses into online or hybrid courses. Faculty selected to participate in the Institute will receive a stipend, access to technology resources and instructional design support. All courses must be approved, or submitted for approval, for academic credit and scheduled to be offered in the 2009-2010 or 2010-2011 academic years.

The Summer Institute takes a comprehensive and systematic approach to the integration of instructional technologies into teaching and learning with sound pedagogy. The core of the Institute is an immersive, week-long series of in-depth workshops, technology skills sessions, hands-on project work, and group discussions. Participants should expect to spend additional time in post-workshop learning community meetings, developing their courses and consulting with I&IT Learning staff. Institute faculty are required to commit to teaching the online or hybrid course at least once during the 2009-2010 or 2011 academic years. Institute faculty are also encouraged to participate in mentoring activities, panel discussions, or presentations that showcase the results of their work.

Faculty will be required to:
