Before starting using Blackboard, it is highly recommended to check its requirements.
Not only does Blackboard require an internet connection, it also requires your browser to be set up with:
- Javascript supported: Javascript is a computer language that runs in the web browser. Don't get this one confused with the computing language, Java.
- Cookies enabled: Cookies are small files that hold information about the times and dates you have visited web sites, user preferences, and other information.
- Pop-up Blockers disabled: Even though pop-up advertisements can be malicious, services, such as Blackboard, require for them to be temporarily turned off.
- Java enabled: Java is a computer language that can be used to program applications and applets.
Note: If you wish to use the real time chat feature (Collaboration), you need to download a Java software.

http://developer.apple.com/java/download/.

To test your browser to find out how compatible it is, please go to CPP Browser Compatibility page. The page also provides some information regarding compatible browser version.
If you have tested your browser and found that it does not support one or more the requirements above, you can set it up by following the steps in the tutorial.

Blackboard Change to Protect Your Security
Blackboard has recently launched a new feature called Blackboard Sync for Facebook. This feature enables students with a Facebook account to access content housed within Blackboard courses. Because this feature uses your campus I.D and password, we must determine if these credentials are fully secured by the Facebook application before we consider activating this feature. If you have already started using this feature in Facebook, you will receive a notice that it has been blocked. This will in no way interfere with your ability to log in to your Blackboard account. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we try to ensure system security and integrity of your learning environment.
