Gordon Research Conference on Physics, Research and Education: Classical Mechanics and Non-linear Dynamics
I co-chaired this conference with David Jackson (Dickinson College). It was a highly successful event (see the program HERE), and we are grateful to the many speakers and participants who spent five glorious days at Mt. Holyoke College.
Gordon Research Conference on Physics, Research and Education: Quantum Mechanics
On June 11-16, 2000, I attended the first Gordon Research Conference on Physics Research and Education, organized by Harvey Gould and Jan Tobochnik, at Plymouth State College. This meeting was the first Gordon Conference on both education and research. It was attended by approximately 95 people from a wide variety of institutions, with diverse interests in physics research and teaching. It was decided that the meeting should be continued and the next meeting focused on the teaching of quantum mechanics. It was held June 9-14 2002. Beth Ann Thacker at Texas Tech University was Chair and David Jackson at Santa Clara University and I were Vice-Chairs. The quantum mechanics meeting was attended by approximately 100 people.
