Operating Systems Analyst

Classification Standard and Description

Quoting the Standard:

Analysis, installation, modification and maintenance of operating systems, utilities, and related software and systems, including physical databases. Responsible for the availability, integrity and reliability of systems.

At Cal Poly Pomona:

This employee typically works on servers or server based information systems. Installs and configures operating systems, database applications or mid/large scale business applications. Responsible for the security and integrity of the systems. May provide direct support for the work of Analyst/Programmers and may also interact with other campus IT support personnel or be part of a unit support team which includes IT Consultants and/or Equipment Systems Specialists.

A bachelors level degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field.
A bachelors level degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field with relevant experience totaling two years full-time or the equivalent part-time. A bachelors level degree in Comptuer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field with five years full-time relevant experience.

Eight years of relevant full-time experience.
