Can you mail me an application?
 
A
No. We do not have the resources to mail out applications for all the requests we receive through the year. However, if you live out of state, do not have access to a computer, or have a disability that makes it difficult to otherwise obtain the application, we will be more than happy to mail it to you.

How do I apply for a position?

Do I need an application or may I submit a resume?
 
A
An application is required for all Cal Poly Pomona positions, except for Management Personnel Plan (MPP) openings with specific filing instructions indicated in the posting/announcement.

Do I have to fill out all portions of the application if I submit a resume?
 
A
Yes. Although some of the information being requested may duplicate information on your resume or vita, please complete the application in full.

Do I need a separate application for each position?
 
A
Yes. You must submit a completed application for each position for which you apply. You may submit a copy of your application if it has an original signature.

Why is an original signature needed for all applications?
 
A
It is University policy that an original signature is needed for all employment applications. An original signature is your certification that all information is correct.

May I leave a resume for future opportunities?
 
A
No. Resumes can only be attached to a completed application and an application can only be submitted for a current job opening/recruitment.

Can I submit my application by fax or e-mail?
 
A
No. The application and supporting documents require an original signature and must be mailed or delivered to the Human Resources--Customer Service Center by the posted closing date.

What happens if my application is not received by the recruitment closing date?
 
A
It will not be considered for the recruitment.

After submitting an application, how long does the hiring process take?
 
A
The job position is open for a minimum of two weeks, then the interview and hiring process varies. (It typically takes another 3 - 4 weeks or more)

What does a "REPEAT" posting mean?
 
A
A "REPEAT" posting means that the position did not close on the advertised date and we are still accepting applications. During a REPEAT posting, the recruitment is subject to close at any time and you will need to submit your application as soon as possible if interested.

After submitting an application, will I be notified if I did or did not get an interview?

Only candidates who are selected for interviews will receive further notification from our office.

How do I find out about the status of my application?

Why are there two salary ranges for the job postings and what is the difference between them?
 
A
Each position has an established salary range, which is the classification salary range. The salary that is used when offering a candidate the position typically falls within the anticipated hiring range.

What is a DMV printout?
 
A
It is a status on your driving authority and history. It can be purchased at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Can I turn in the application without the DMV report?
 
A
If the position you are applying for requires a DMV report, it must be turned in as part of the application package or the application will be considered incomplete.

What happens if my application is incomplete? (Does not have an original signature or is missing a required document)
 
A
It is placed in a holding file and is not logged in as an active application until the correct information is received. If required documents are not received before the position closes, the application will not be considered.

What time do you close?
 
A
The Customer Service Center and Human Resources both close at 5:00 p.m. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Are you open on the weekend?
 
A
No. We are not open on the weekend.

I am going to deliver my application today but I will not be able to arrive before 5:00 p.m. and the position closes today--will you still accept it?
 
A
You may drop off your application at the drive-up Human Resources Employment Application Drop-Box , or in the drop box located inside the CLA Building (ground floor) and across from the sliding glass door entrance to Human Resources.

The drop box is emptied weekly, the morning following our recruitment closures. The applications taken from the box are date stamped as received on the preceeding business day.

Is there free parking for people who are applying/turning in an application?
 
A
Yes. There is 15 minute free parking behind the information booth. Please go to the Parking Booth, located in the loop on Kellogg Drive for directions. If it takes you longer than 15 minutes to fill out and/or turn in your application, you will need to purchase a $5 day parking pass, or look for metered parking.

Can I apply online?

No. We are not set up yet to accept applications online.

I interviewed for a job--is someone going to send me a letter if I wasn't selected?
 
A
Yes. You will be sent a letter if you are not the selected candidate.
