All employees should attend a retirement planning workshop. Workshops are conducted periodically here on the Cal Poly Pomona campus for your convenience. See the Calendar of Benefit Orientations and Workshops for a list of the workshops currently scheduled. Additionally, workshops are conducted by CalPERS Field Offices and the schedule and registration forms are available through CalPERS On-Line.
Following are several booklets, available from our Customer Service Center, located in the CLA Building 98, Room B1-20. These publications are highly recommended reading for employees nearing retirement:
Usually when employees start thinking about retirement, they begin wondering about how much they will receive in CalPERS retirement benefits. The best way to find out is by getting a retirement benefit estimate.
There are two main ways to get a CalPERS retirement estimate:
Internet (using the Retirement Planning Calculator)
Recommended for employees three or more years from retirement.
CalPERS staff (using the Request for Estimate of Benefits Form)
Recommended for employees within three years of expected retirement.
Both types of estimates are approximations of a member's retirement benefit based on expected final compensation (highest average 12 months of salary), years of service, and age at the time of retirement.
