Room Decorations and Alterations

In order to provide maximum comfort in the student room, redecorating is allowed and in fact, encouraged. All furniture must be left in the rooms.

*Suites Residents: Under no circumstances are you allowed to hang decorations on the fire sprinkler heads.

How to Bunk Beds

It will require two people to assemble and lift a single bed on top of another safely.

  1. Use extra bed end from closet.
  2. Attach metal bedspring frame to the bed ends. This will require the following hardware and Allen wrench per bed:
    1. 4 ea. 3-inch length bolts
    2. 4 ea. joint connection nuts
    3. 4 ea. metal dowel pins
    4. 1 ea. 4mm Allen wrench
    5. Make sure that the bedspring frame and dowel hole on the bed ends are both facing upward when the bottom bed is bolted together.  The top bed should have the dowel hole facing downward on the bed ends.
  3. Once the two beds are assembled. Insert the four (4) dowel pins into the four (4) hole openings on top of bed end.
  4. Physically lift the top bed on top of the bottom bed.
  5. Attach the four (4) U-brackets to each of the bedposts, and line up the holes for bolting.
  6. Necessary hardware and Allen wrench
    1. 4 ea. U-brackets
    2. 8 ea. 3-inch length bolts
    3. 8 ea. joint connection nuts
    4. 1 ea. 4mm Allen wrench

NOTE: Under no circumstance are triple bunks allowed. Any Licensee found having constructed a triple bunk will face disciplinary action and/or a charge back for improper use of University furniture.

How to Loft Beds

  1. Use extra bed end from closet for bottom loft support.
  2. To assemble loft support, attach metal bed support bar to pair of bed ends. This will require the following hardware and Allen wrench per bed:
    1. 4 ea. 3-inch length bolts
    2. 4 ea. joint connection nuts
    3. 1 ea. metal support bar
    4. 4 ea. metal dowel pins
    5. 1 ea. 4mm Allen wrench
    6. Make sure that the bed ends have the dowel hole facing upward. The top bed should have the dowel hole facing downward on the bed ends.
  3. Once the loft support is assembled, insert the four (4) dowel pins into the four (4) hole openings.
  4. Physically lift the top bed on top to the assembled loft support and line up the dowels with the dowel holes.
  5. Attach the four (4) U-brackets to each of the bedposts and line up the holes for bolting.
  6. Necessary hardware and Allen wrench
    1. 4 ea. U-brackets
    2. 8 ea. 3-inch length bolts
    3. 8 ea. joint connection nuts
    4. 1 ea. 4mm Allen wrench

NOTE: For all loft beds to be considered properly assembled by University Housing Services, all required hardware must be installed during assembly.
