Interhall Council

Serving as the Residence Hall's student government program, IHC provides residents with a variety of leadership opportunities. Through programs, activities and services, IHC promotes intellectual and social growth, scholastic achievement, recreational activities, and the development of cultural interests of all hall residents. IHC consists of an executive board and representatives from each hall.

IHC also sponsors events in our residence halls, around campus, and off campus. These events are free or discounted for IHC members. Visit the IHC homepage for more information.

Interested in being a Resident Advisor?

Many student leadership postions are available including resident advisor. Following are the positions and a small description of each.

  • Assistant Residence Life Coordinator - Academic Development
    The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator of Academic Development is responsible for supporting departmental initiatives promoting academic achievement and collaborating with the Residence Life Coordinator for the overall management of the residential communities.
  • Assistant Residence Life Coordinator - Conduct Initiatives
    The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator of Conduct Initiatives is responsible for promoting departmental initiatives to limit policy violations while collaborating with the Residence Life Coordinator for the overall management of the residential communities.
  • Assistant Residence Life Coordinator - Program Enrichment
    The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator of Program Enrichment is responsible for supporting departmental initiatives promoting innovative and successful programs while collaborating with the Residence Life Coordinator for the overall management of the residential communities.
  • Assistant Residence Life Coordinator - Social Responsibility
    The Assistant Residence Life Coordinator of Social Responsibility is tasked with promoting departmental initiatives on Sustainability, Social Justice, and Service, while collaborating with the Residence Life Coordinator for the overall management of the residential communities.
  • Resident Advisor
    The primary responsibility of the Resident Advisor is to provide safety and security while building community in each of the residential halls and suites. Community building is accomplished through programs, socials, and enforcing community standards established by University Housing Services and by the residents of a building.
  • Summer Resident Advisor
    The primary responsibility of the Summer Resident Advisor is to provide safety and security while building community in each of the residential halls and suites with summer residents. Community building is accomplished through programs, socials, and enforcing community standards established by University Housing Services and by the residents of a building.
  • Summer Resident Advisor - Poly Nights
    The primary responsibility of the Summer Poly Night Resident Advisor is to build and maintain the safety and security of the building. This is accomplished through performing “duty” rounds and enforcing community standards established by University Housing Services and by the residents of the building.
  • Welcome Week Chair
    The primary responsibility of the Chairs (2) of Welcome Week is to coordinate Welcome Week, the 4-day residential orientation program held in September for first year & transfer students living in the residential communities. Welcome Week is designed to assist new residents during their transition to Cal Poly Pomona. The Chairs, with direction from UHS staff, oversee the marketing, registration, budgeting, logistics and implementation of the Welcome Week Program. The Welcome Week Chairs lead a team including 4 - 6 Assistant Chairs.
  • Welcome Week Assistant Chair
    The primary responsibility of the Assistant Chair of Welcome Week is to aid in the coordination of a 4-day orientation held in September for incoming students living in the residential communities. An Assistant Chair coordinates programs and workshops designed to aid new students on their transition to Cal Poly Pomona. An Assistant Chair works on a staff of 4-6 Assistant Chairs and the Welcome Week Co-Chairs.
  • Welcome Week Leader
    The primary responsibility of a Welcome Week Leader is to guide 8-10 students during their first week on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. A Welcome Week Leader is directly responsible for creating a welcoming environment to new students, represent University Housing Services in a positive light and to share their knowledge of the Cal Poly Pomona campus.
