About our Horses

Cal Poly Pomona is proud to own and ride over fifteen horses. Our horses come from diverse background and make great mounts and teachers for beginning and advanced riders alike. We would like to thank those who have donated the use and ownership of their horses for our lesson program and shows. For more information about horse donation or leasing, please contact Jen Earles.

	Archie Archie Sergeants Zip 1993 Sorrel AQHA gelding Archie was donated to the team in 2002 by the Zilinskas family. He was our first Western horse and is a favorite draw at our Western shows.

	Burbury 1994 Grey Holsteiner gelding Burbury was donated to the team in 2006 by the Ryan family. He is affectionately known as "Buddy" and competes in the upper levels of flat & fences.

	Blue Detailed in Blue 1997 Blue Roan AQHA gelding Blue was donated to the team in 2009 by Kim Payne of San Juan Capistrano, CA. He has been shown Western & Hunt Seat and is now a valuable member of our Western team.

Chief
1998 Sorrel & White APHA gelding

Chief joined the team in 2006 and is owned by the Carroll family of Chino Hils, CA. Chief is used for both Western & Hunt Seat flat.

Chex
Captain Chex
1997 Sorrel AQHA gelding

Chex was donated in 2009 by Kathleen Stillman of Murrieta, CA. He has been shown in reining & working cow horse and is used by our Western team.

Dexter
Finder's Keepers
1996 Dark Bay TB gelding

Dexter came to Cal Poly from Black Star Equestrian in Chino Hills. This big guy does flat & fences for all levels of riders.

Foxhunt
1993 Liver Chestnut TB/Appaloosa gelding

Foxhunt is owned by student Lindsey Kupke of Norco, CA. He has been on the team for several years and is used for Hunt Seat flat & fences.

Johnny
Starr Chasers Fund
1997 Thoroughbred/Arabian Bay gelding

Johnny is owned by team Advisor Jen Earles. He has multiple regional and national titles in Working Hunter and Sport Horse Under Saddle.

Poppy
Poppys Mirage
1989 Chestnut Quarter Horse mare

Poppy is currently on lease from Nora Hillary of Norco, Ca. She has shown in trail and other western events prior to joining the team and is currently used by our Western team for all-divisions of horsemanship.

Whoville
1996 Bay Holsteiner Cross gelding

Whoville joined the team in 2008 and is donated by the Gill family of La Mesa. He is used for our upper level Hunt Seat flat & fences riders.
