Welcome to the College of Agriculture
at Cal Poly Pomona! You've taken the first step in discovering
all the great things we have to offer.
Most people are surprised to find out
that agriculture is alive and well in southern California--and
we're living proof! We're teaching traditional and urban agriculture
to students who will "feed the world, clothe humanity and
sustain the earth." If you are not familiar with Cal Poly
Pomona or the College of Agriculture, here's a little bit of information
about us:
We are a small, close-knit college
of approximately 1000 students. However, we are also part of a
larger university community that includes 18,000 students, excellent
library facilities, state-of-the-art computer labs, a well-stocked
bookstore, plentiful student services, and great places to eat.
The faculty and staff are well qualified and friendly, they care
about our students.
We provide a quality education and students "learn-by-doing,"
in the classroom as well as in our many field laboratories.
Cal Poly Pomona is an excellent value for the educational dollar.
It's one of the lowest priced universities in California and is
nationally recognized by U. S. News and World Report as one of
the best regional universities in the west.
Students actually get to know each other--a real feat at larger
universities. They study, work and play together.
There are many exciting opportunities for students to become involved
with extra-curricular activities through competitive teams, clubs
and other student organizations.
We're located in a major metropolitan area, which means more jobs,
housing, internships, scholarships and entertainment opportunities
for our students. But in spite of this, our campus still retains
a rural atmosphere dominated by croplands, orchards, pastures
and livestock.
Our faculty members are actively involved with industry research
and provide practical research opportunities for our students.
Our academic programs have developed several "centers of
excellence" to enhance the classroom learning experience
and provide expertise to industry.
And finally, our graduates are in demand--employers want to hire
our students.
