Dr. Parker is Chair of the Food Marketing and Agribusiness
Management/Agricultural Education Department at California State
Polytechnic University Pomona. Since joining the faculty in 1976,
he has also served as Associate Dean for Agriculture.
Prior to Cal Poly Pomona, Dr. Parker was at California
State University Bakersfield for three years, where he started
the Agribusiness program in the School of Business.
His primary teaching areas include marketing and
promotion of food and fiber products, as well as agribusiness
finance. Other areas are quantitative methods and agricultural
policy.
His interests lie in the area of marketing food
and fiber products.
Dr. Parker received the 2000 George P. Hart Award
for Outstanding Faculty Leadership. He has been recognized several
times for his teaching and interaction with students. He received
the 1998-99 Mack H. Kennington Adviser of the Year Award. This
was the second time that he has received this award. He has also
received the Gamma Sigma Delta Teaching Excellence Award.
He has been a member of the National Agri-Marketing
Association (NAMA) since 1989. He has served the Southern California
chapter as Treasurer since 1991, and has been a member of the
National Careers Committee. Currently he is a member of the national
Board of Directors for NAMA. For the past eleven years, he has
also has advised groups of students in preparing marketing campaigns
as part of a national competition; his teams have placed in the
national finals four of the last eight years.
He has also been active with the Fresh Produce and
Floral Council as well as with the Southern California Association
of Frozen Food Brokers.
