Dr. Edison Cabacungan is the Chair of the Food Marketing
and Agribusiness Management / Agricultural Education Department
(FMAM/AG ED). While working for his graduate degrees, he worked
as a research assistant in the Department of Agricultural Economics
at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. After
graduation, he worked for several years as an economist in the
State Capitol in Denver, Colorado while at the same time teaching
courses in economics at the University of Colorado, Denver Center.
He joined the Department of Agricultural Business Management/International
Agriculture (now the FMAM/AG ED Department) at Cal Poly Pomona
in 1973 and has been teaching there since then.
Dr. Cabacungan teaches courses in International
Marketing of Food and Fiber Products, Management of Agricultural
Cooperatives, Applied Economics for Agriculture, Accounting for
Agribusiness and Personnel Management. He is also an advisor to
graduate and undergraduate students.
He organized international trade conferences between
the U.S. and the ASEAN countries, the U.S. and West Africa and
the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. He led an educational field trip with
12 Cal Poly Pomona students to Saudi Arabia under the sponsorship
of the Saudi government. He also led a field trip with nine students
to Thailand under the sponsorships of Operations California and
the United Nations Development Programme.
Recipient of the- 1998 International Business Partnership
Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Inland Empire
Export Assistance Center; Meritorious Performance and Professional
Promise Award, Cal Poly Pomona, 1985-86.
