of Graduate Studies, College of Agriculture and Animal & Veterinary
Sciences During my undergraduate and graduate years I was a paid
teaching assistant and found that I loved teaching. To increase
my research proficiency, I took a research post-doctoral fellowship
appointment at the University of Minnesota, where I was in charge
of the sheep genetics farm and the Finnsheep Research Project.

Research Areas/Expertise
As a student, I was involved in research projects
on land snail genetics, the timing of hot brand healing of cattle
hide, and the dietary protein requirements of several strains
of Japanese Quail. Since graduation, my research has concerned
the reproductive physiology of Finnsheep, various aspects of dairy
cattle nutrition, selection for increased and decreased susceptibility
to induced cleft palate in mice, and the genetics of play behavior
in rats, among others.
