Report Gallery This site offers an index to annual reports for many fortune 500 companies. Browse the alphabetical index to locate a company of interest. North American Fund Info Service World Investor Link partners with several companies to provide copies of mutual fund annual reports. Explore several partner sites in your search for annual reports to locate a format that suits your needs. Some sites like The Wall Street Journal provide only paper copies while others offer various electronic formats as well as paper.
Investment Advisor Public Disclosure Database The Securities and Exchange Commission and state regulators make information about investment advisor firms available. Search by full or partial company name, IARD/CRD number or SEC number to find a business' primary name, alternate names, IARD/CRD number, SEC number, address, and a link to its Form ADV (application for investment advisor registration). The application then discloses additional useful information; for example, whether the business has assets under management of $25 million or more, its state of incorporation, number of employees, number of clients, and more.
Directory of Corporate Archives in the United States and Canada The 5th edition (1997), prepared for the Society of American Archivists, is available in full text at no charge. It offers contact information for researching the archival records of companies in the U.S. and Canada.

Search products, services, company names, and brands to find basic company information. Look for bolded company names in the search results list to find free corporate profiles. These may include basic contact information as well as the year the business was established, number of employees, office hours, VAT number, registered number, board members, executives, key financials (sometimes including bank name and account number), trade names, and product/service categories.
The Public Register In addition to assisting researcher's looking for company home pages, financial information, and research reports, The Public Register provides free copies of annual reports. Researchers must order them, but there is no charge.
Quicken.com Investments Enter a public company's name or symbol to discover trading information, news, state of incorporation, market capitalization, number of outstanding shares, number of institutional shareholders, income, sales, assets, and more. Forbes 500 Largest Private Companies Discover basic financials about the 500 top private companies in the United States. The site also links to home pages and provides address information as well as the name of the CEO.
Franchise 500 Entrepreneur Magazine offers a database containing information from its 21st Annual Franchise 500. Find franchises and their rankings, street and Web addresses, business description as well as an annual breakdown of the number of units owned since 1997, information about where they seek to franchise, financial information, and contact information.

National Charities Information Bureau The National Charities Information Bureau (NCIB) promotes wise giving to charitable organizations. In this regard, it created, and offers via its Web site, Standards in Philanthropy, with interpretations. For business researchers, the site offers information about whether a charity meets theses standards. A form exists for ordering copies of reports. The site also features one charity per week and provides a portion of its report.
GuideStar Discover basic information about charitable organizations. Learn their assets, income, FEIN, funding and activities. The site also features an advertisements database offering services such as volunteering and financial resources. GuideStar also offers a charities form 990 database
BBB & Fraud
The Better Business Bureau offers business and charity reports databases. The business reports database currently contains reports for businesses in select jurisdictions. It's a great way to learn something about private companies if the company does business in one of the select locations.
Fraud Bureau This site offers news, commentary, and information pertaining to Internet-related fraud. Find a database of consumer complaints, which you can search by company name, ISP, or Web address. Read the latest scam and virus alerts. Browse a directory of consumer information sources, where you can learn about anti-spam laws and products, consumer information organizations, and more. Business Boneyard Hoover's Online offers a collection of company profiles on businesses that no longer exist. This content is available only to paid subscribers.
Business CreditUSA.com Obtain low-cost business credit reports for public and private U.S. companies. This University of Missouri research program offers a digital collection of
contracts obtained primarily from public company filings with the Securities and
Exchange Commission. Search the collection by keyword for merger and acquisition
agreements, employment contracts, leases, joint ventures and other contractual
documents. The site also offers a special "guided search" for building complex
queries.
Zephus This site offers a database of information about deals involving European companies (since August 1997) and United Kingdom companies (since January 1999). Search by company name, advisor, industry, deal type, time period, or country; or create more complex queries using advanced search features. Data returned includes deal type, dates of announcement and expected completion, target company (including country and industry), bidder company (including country and parent info), vendor, and comments. This is a free database that requires registration. Zephus also offers an email alert service for tracking the activities of certain companies.

MNI Database Manufacturers News, Inc. offers a database of information about U.S. manufacturers. To conduct a cost-free search, follow the link for Standard Search. Select the industry, location, or keyword you want to search. Then select how you wanted the resulted sorted (by company name, city, state, or zip code). Free information includes the name and location of the manufacturer, SIC code, number of employees, and annual sales.
Thomas Register of American Manufacturers Use this resource to find U.S. and Canadian companies and their brands. The site allows searching by company name, product or service, or brand name. It provides business name and address and, for several companies, an online catalog and link to the company's web site. There is no charge to use this site.

Each entry comes with its own date and time stamp indicating the timeliness of the information. A "comparison tables" feature may also reveal a company's position relative to a select group of peers.
Marketresearch.com Kalorama Information, LLC, publisher and distributor of market research reports, offers a search interface to its studies as well as to Findex and MarketLooks. MarketLooks provides brief (10 to 15 pages) analyses of industries. Findex, by FIND/SVP, is a database of abstracted industry reports by FIND/SVP. Search by keyword. Keywords may encompass company names. Researchers receive abstracts free of charge and may order full-text reports via the site. Accessing Findex summaries requires a paid subscription, but visitors may search it free of charge.
